Celebrating 70 Years of Excellence: The RICK Legacy

This year, RICK proudly celebrates 70 years of innovation, collaboration, and service.

What began as a small firm in 1955 has grown into a multidisciplinary company with 11 offices across the southwestern United States.

Along the way, we’ve worked on countless transformative projects and partnered with incredible people and organizations to leave a lasting impact.

RICK’s story began in San Diego, where Glenn Rick worked as City Planning Engineer and played a key role in reimaging Mission Bay in 1944. Eleven years later, after retiring from the City of San Diego, he opened the first RICK office with his two sons. From the start, the firm focused on delivering innovative solutions in civil engineering, planning, survey, and mapping.

As RICK grew, the company embraced new opportunities that shaped our future. Moving to a larger headquarters in San Diego and expanding into technologies like photogrammetry set the stage for decades of growth. We began adding divisions and expanding geographically, opening more offices in California and moving into Arizona, Colorado, and Nevada.
