The Allan Hancock College Public Safety Training Complex is a training facility unlike any other. The two-story satellite building will serve as a hands-on training and experiential classroom, laboratory, and administration hub. Additionally, RICK provided schematic design development and construction documents for a six-story burn tower, a paved area to accommodate mock-up training props, apparatus storage, a vehicle maintenance shop, and a police garage—all meant to bolster the amount and frequency of Public Safety Trainings.
Lastly, the site has a scenario village that will include mock-up structures for training and an indoor shooting range, outdoor training/drill grounds, and parking for approximately 150 staff, student, and visitor vehicles. The site will support a one-mile-long Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (EVOC), a city grid driving course, skid pan, slow-speed area, and a ¼-mile athletic track with a par course (typically a grass area that has the potential to serve as an obstacle course area).
