RICK provides the Grossmont Union High School District (GUHSD) on-call GIS services, including items such as data compilation, exhibit preparation, area analysis, aerial image acquisition, building inventory, and more.
Most recently, GUHSD sought composite record as-built utility mapping and campus land use designation assignments for the District’s 14 separate high school campuses. GUHSD paper records of dry and wet utility plans were e-searched, scanned, georeferenced, and digitized into a versioned ESRI geodatabase allowing for multiple simultaneous editors and most importantly, quality control. The deliverables for GUHSD was delivered via exhibits for field personnel staff and the creation of each utility set was automated through the use of python scripting. The utility information was shared via a user-friendly, interactive GIS web application.
Shortly after, GUHSD’s website was transferred into RICK’s ‘As-Built Portal.’ RICK utilizes Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud to host open-source software. This enables RICK and the client, GUHSD, to readily access any and all documents—specifically, stacks of GIS and file management tools.
