Millenia is a 206-acre area located at the southeast quadrant of Chula Vista, California. Millenia is a dynamic space that includes 3,000 high-density residential units and approximately 3,480,000 square feet of non-residential land use.
RICK served as a stormwater resources engineer for the project and provided preliminary hydrologic and hydraulic calculations and design and preparation of reports to be used in preliminary grading and tentative mapping. In addition, RICK was responsible for low impact development (LID) and water quality best management practices (WQBMP) design elements, as well as hydromodification management calculations and planning.
After receiving entitlement approvals, RICK was selected to prepare improvement plans for the majority of Millenia Phase I. The improvement plans included prime arterials (Birch Road, 2100’ and Eastlake Parkway, 3000’) with new traffic signals and signal modifications, plans for the dedicated Bus Rapid Transit Route (1600’), and 1.1 miles of internal street plans that included the following: three signals, three signage and striping, and standard surface improvements. In addition to public improvements, design included water quality bioretention facilities and all necessary calculations for water quality sizing.
The Millenia project successfully achieved LEED Neighborhood Development (LEED-ND) Certification from the United States Green Building Council.
