Pacific Beacon Bachelor Enlisted Quarters is the nation’s first large-scale privatized housing community for unaccompanied enlisted military personnel. The three high-rise buildings serve as an upscale living quarters within walking distance to existing ship quarter accommodations.
RICK was able to support the site master planning, design development, and construction documents for the 941 dual master suite residences with the capacity to house more than 2,000 active-duty sailors. As part of the site master planning, design development, and preparation of construction, RICK ensured that Pacific Beacon’s Bachelor Enlisted Quarters had top-of-the-line amenities. Each of the three high-rise living quarters included a rooftop sky terrace with a pool and spa, fitness centers, Wi-Fi coffee bars, rooftop penthouse game rooms, a multimedia theater, several lounges, a mini mart, dry cleaning valet, and a multitude of outdoor amenities: athletic field and track, basketball courts, sand volleyball courts, horseshoe pits, barbeque areas, and outdoor courtyard living rooms. Amenities aside, the project was designed with the commuter in mind. For example, the project design included a pedestrian friendly atmosphere for both large-scale and small-scale gatherings with tree-lined streets. Each of the pedestrian-friendly areas are surrounded by seating and large sunken, open lawn areas.
A dynamic project with many stakeholders, RICK coordinated with the architect/planner, prepared a concept landscape plan, prepared domestic water and sewer studies, prepared a drainage study and Water Quality Technical Report, and delivered design surveys. The final work included preparation of construction documents for the site, including demolition, grading, sewer, water and drainage improvements, surface improvements, detention basin, building layouts, landscape, irrigation, site lighting, and construction administration.
