Rancho del Lago is a 1,600-acre master planned community in the fast-growing community of Vail, Arizona. RICK provided comprehensive civil engineering services for this project, including entitlements, platting, overall infrastructure design, roadway improvements, grading, drainage, and utilities design. Support was also delivered through planning, transportation engineering, and landscape architectural design services for the community.
The overall development area was initially subdivided into 49 individual blocks, which were then further subdivided into their final residential and commercial use configurations. In addition to numerous miles of local residential streets and 2,700 single-family residential lots, this community contains over 6 miles of collector or arterial roadways. The project needed extensive infrastructure upgrades, including the construction of 18,000 feet of off-site gravity sewer main to serve the project. Additionally, a public sewer lift station and force main and nearly 9,000 feet of soil-cement bank protection along the Pantano Wash were included. The project presented some sign challenges, such as Hillside Development Overlay Zone restrictions, including a requirement for 30% of the entire property to remain as natural open space. Other features also enhanced the project and community, including an 18-hole golf course and clubhouse, an elementary school, and a community park.
