Senator Conness Apartments is a 162-unit, 100% affordable housing community on 9.6 acres in the Oak Valley region of Chico, California. Amenities include an office/community building, sports courts, playground, swimming pool, and 250 parking spaces. The project provides safe and affordable housing for families and individuals earning 30-60% of the area median income (AMI) in Butte County. This project provided much-needed affordable housing to low-income families and and also helped some rebuild from recent devastating wildfires.
RICK provided preliminary plans for Design Review approval by the City of Chico (Preliminary Grading Plan, Preliminary Drainage Study & Runoff Treatment, Low Impact Development (LID), and Hydromodification Plan), along with on-site improvement plans, off-site improvement plans, and construction support services. The site had a variety of wetland areas that were required to be preserved. Therefore, a bridge crossing needed to be designed along with grading and retaining walls to avoid disturbance to the wetlands.
The client for the project specializes in building and operating affordable multi-family rental communities. These apartments provided a solution to the underserved community in Chico, California.
