The University of Arizona Honors College project occupies three city blocks north of the University of Arizona and consists of student housing, a recreation center, and associated parking and roadway improvements.
The East Block is home to a six-story, silver LEED-certified dormitory for Honors College students with a total building square footage of 341,292 sf and 319 units, and a total of 1,056 beds. A dining hall occupies the west half of the ground level, while a student study and quiet area occupies the west portion of the second floor.
The West Block will be developed into a multilevel, 45,922-square-foot recreation center, a four-level parking structure with a total of 369 parking spaces, a surface parking lot, and other associated site improvements.
The North Block is planned for development into a surface parking lot with more than 210 parking spaces and retention/detention basins and landscape areas.
The project also abandoned the Fremont Avenue public right-of-way between Drachman Street and Mabel Street, allowing for the creation of a pedestrian plaza connecting the East Block and the West Block.
