RICK provided 3D laser scanning and 3D construction coordination services for Phase II of an Interventional Radiology space at Kaiser Permanente’s Woodland Hills Medical Center. RICK teamed with U.S. CAD to provide a comprehensive set of scanning, modeling, and BIM coordination services. Existing conditions, including MEP, structural, and architectural features, were captured with 3D laser scanning, then modeled directly in Revit to serve as a true as-built of current conditions. A design coordination phase took place to ensure the design had no conflicts with existing infrastructure. The project also included pre-construction services to spatially coordinate all the construction trades prior to commencement of construction activities. The project spatially coordinated existing and proposed systems inside the first floor construction area, which included coring and structural reinforcement in the below basement area.
RICK performed a control survey for the four towers, ensuring that all future existing conditions surveys lie within the same building coordinate system. This will allow the development of a campus-wide building information model (BIM) over time as budget and priorities allow. RICK also developed and hosted an online interactive map, which enables the easy viewing of various building systems. The site provides access to TruViews (360° interactive views of the building’s interstitial spaces) to all design, construction, and facility team members and is set up to grow as building information is gathered at the facility.
