RICK’s Reality Capture Team Attends Healthcare Project Delivery Conference

RICK served as a sponsor for the annual Healthcare Project Delivery Conference at the end of last month at the Omni in San Diego. Members of Team RICK were honored to be among the 700 participants discussing innovations in healthcare facility project delivery. Our reality capture experts and a few members of RICK’s landscape architecture and civil design teams attended the event. They were energized by inspiring conversations with healthcare facility managers and administrators, as well as construction, architecture, and design professionals. Together, they enjoyed sharing some of our project models via virtual reality tours.

The highly anticipated conference included discussions and presentations examining infrastructure challenges faced by healthcare providers nationwide, as well as solutions to deliver critical projects efficiently. The featured program session explored exciting alternative delivery methods, how to plan successful integrated project delivery initiatives, best practices in selecting partners, and steps to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget. Active and upcoming projects at hospitals across the country were also featured.

“Attendees heard how providers successfully bring their key facility projects to completion. It was inspiring to hear hospital leaders walk us through the history of their projects, upgrades, lessons learned, and upcoming developments.”  —Josh Vandiver | RICK Principal Reality Capture Project Manager

In addition to the insightful presentations, lots of fun was had at the RICK kiosk manned by two of RICK’s principal reality capture project managers. Visitors experienced RICK’s laser scanning and reality capture work on a project for Kaiser Permanente Zion Medical Center through the hands-on virtual reality demonstration. The virtual reality headset allowed users to take a literal step into a RICK 3D digital twin of an operating room and interstitial space created using point cloud technology. RICK’s Gustavo Rios and Josh Vandiver walked viewers through the model of the facility and pointed out its unique features. These virtual site walks aren’t just for fun; they enable project teams to visit the project at any time without impacting activities of the functioning space.

In addition to the virtual experience, anyone who stopped by the booth had a chance to enter a raffle to win a free half day of laser scanning!

In a time when healthcare facility owners, architects, and contractors are trying to figure out more efficient ways to finish projects, RICK is more excited than ever to step up to the plate to provide the technology that will get them where they need to be. Innovative solutions early in the design phase will help providers start the important work of helping people and saving lives sooner, and we are honored to play a part in the process.
