It’s an annual tradition here at RICK to hold a summer picnic, affectionately coined “Ricnic”, in the late summer for our San Diego, Orange, and Riverside offices. At RICK, we believe fostering a strong, connected team goes beyond the workplace, so coming together outside of the office to enjoy a day of fun in the sun alongside coworkers, friends, and family is one of the ways we enact this central value. And, we’ve been doing it for over 30 years.
Ricnic Saturday is highly anticipated, and our RICK Activities Committee works hard to ensure every year tops the last. Held at Crown Point Park in San Diego on August 24th this year, the event was attended by over 100 RICK employees, family members, and friends and featured a range of activities catering to all ages and interests.
The Ricnic kicked off with a variety of engaging games and picnic pastimes. From corn hole, to face painting, to water balloon games, there was no shortage of entertainment. Kids enjoyed a play area with an inflatable bounce house and a piñata, while adults participated in a friendly (but highly competitive) three-hour cornhole tournament. Some even took a swim in the bay to cool off. It was a joy to see colleagues and their families working together, laughing, and cheering each other on.

No picnic is complete without great food, and this year’s catering did not disappoint. Attendees were served an impressive spread of delicious options provided by local vendor Tacos Don Jorge. For dessert, there was a delightful assortment of sweet treats, which left everyone with smiles on their faces.
It was heartwarming to see the mingling of different generations creating new friendships and strengthening existing ones. Everyone had a memorable and enjoyable day, and we already can’t wait for next year! Thank you to all the members of the RICK Activities Committee for their work in making the Ricnic happen, and to everyone who spent their Saturday at the park with us.
